Enaiatollah is about ten years old when his mother abandons him in Pakistan to give him a better life. An odyssey in five stages begins for the boy: Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy. Growing up as a refugee, he knows all the narrow-mindedness, pettiness and violence that human kind is capable of, but also their wisdom, generosity and kindness.
